Well here it is, the blog that you probably haven't been waiting for :) My day to day journey & the inevitable soundtrack that accompanies it.

A soldier with a broken arm, fixed his stare to the wheel of a Cadillac
A cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest
And a queer threw up at the sight of that
I think I saw you in an ice-cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
Don't think you knew you were in this song

Five Years had a profound effect on me aged about 13. Bowie spoke to me with layers of ambiguity & sophistication & gave context to the confusion I was experiencing. To simply hear the word 'queer' outside of the playground gave me a sense of connection to something I had yet to discover. It felt like I had joined a new secret society. I fell in love with Bowie & to date it's my most enduring love affair. We've had our fall outs but we're still together.
